(Peru, Neb.) - The Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat women's volleyball team posted an 11-18 overall record and a 4-5 Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) record for the 2011 season. After a struggling during the middle of the season, the Bobcats finished the season playing some of the best volleyball. Their season concluded in the HAAC quarterfinals losing in five games to Evangel University, a team that had swept them earlier in the season.
The Bobcats also had two players ranked nationally in individual statistics.
Carly Morehead (Fairbury) ranked 30
th in blocks per game (1.110) while
Emily Maresh(Central City) ranked 38
th in digs per game (4.960).
Upon the conclusion of the season, HAAC individual statistical categories had several Bobcats holding rankings.
Morehead was tied for third in blocks per set (1.1), fourth in service aces per set (0.4), tied for fifth in service aces with 38, sixth in hitting percentage (0.245), 18
th in kills per set (2.3), 19
th in total kills (105).
Maresh was tied for second in digs per set (5.0), third in digs (556), tied for ninth in service aces per set (0.3), and tied for 12
th in total service aces (35).
At the conclusion of her junior year, Maresh cracked into the top ten career leaders in two different categories. Maresh now has 1,408 career digs, which puts her tenth all time. Her serve receive attempts also moved her into tenth all time with 1,638.
Also found in the HAAC Top 20 individual rankings as of Nov. 29, 2011, were
Maddy Lister (North Platte), Jessie Clark (Omaha), Courtney Jurek (Bellevue), Amanda Gilreath (Omaha), Katlyn Donovan (Greeley), Kelsey Monahan (Atkinson), and
Rachel Rippe (Johnson).
Lister finished tied for 11
th in kills per set (2.6) and 13
th in total kills (276). Clark tied with Lister for 11
th in kills per set. Jurek, Gilreath, and Donovan were each in both of the setting categories. Jurek was 13
th in assists per set (4.2) and 12
th in total assists (450). Gilreath was right behind Jurek in assists per set with 3.3 and was 14
th in total assists (302). Donovan was just behind Gilreath in assists per set with 1.3 and finished 18
th in total assists (121).
Monahan tied for 18
th in total service aces with 32. Rippe was in the top 20 in the two blocking categories. Rippe finished tied for ninth in blocks per set (0.8) and 20
th in total blocks (61).
Morehead was the lone Bobcat to be named to the HAAC All-Conference First Team. Maresh earned three HAAC Libero of the Week honors and was named to the HAAC All-Conference Second Team. Lister and Clark received HAAC All-Conference Honorable Mention.
