Ward earned the recognition for her play on the basketball court, which resulted in her earning the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) Player of the Week honors for the week of December 12. Her recognition came after the Bobcats had dropped a close conference game with Culver-Stockton that saw Ward put up 23 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. That was her third double-double in a row. In addition, Ward blocked a season-high five blocks and added one steal.
In December, Ward recorded six double-double efforts and has a total of nine for the season. Presently, Ward leads the team in scoring – 14.47 points per game; rebounding – 9.88 rebounds per game; and blocks – 1.53 blocks per game.
In the HAAC, Ward leads the conference in blocks and field goal percentage (0.518). In addition, Ward is second in total rebounds and fourth in scoring.
The 6' junior is ranked in eight NAIA Division I Top 50 categories. They include: third in offensive rebounds per game (5.353); seventh in total rebounds (168); 12th in total blocks (26); 17th in field goal percentage (0.518); 20th in total rebounds per game (9.88); 23rd in total scoring (246); 29th in blocks per game (1.529); and 35th in free throw percentage (0.800).
With her efforts so far this season, Ward has moved up into the Top Ten of several Bobcat women's basketball career categories. Presently, Ward is now second in total blocks with 109 having moved past Lora White, a PSC Hall of Fame Member, this season. In addition, Ward is now seventh in total rebounds with 726 having moved past Tamir Anderson, Liz Jessen, and Marcia Stevens.
PSC Athletic Director Steve Schneider said, “Courtney is deserving of the recognition for her efforts on the basketball court. Additionally, Courtney does a great job academically. She is a fine representative for Peru State College.”
