(Peru, Neb.) – There were many additional people chanting “Go Big Blue” on Saturday at Peru State College (PSC). Some of the voices were loud and strong, but some were a little less strong as they came from area youth participating in the Bobcat Youth Cheer Camp. However, they were every bit as enthusiastic!
Bobcat cheer captain
Shelby Jones (Johnson) thought the camp went very well. Jones said, “We did not have the numbers we anticipated, but the turnout was still encouraging. The squad enjoyed working with the kids and we look forward to teaching young cheerleaders how to be PSC cheerleaders in future camps.”
The Bobcat cheerleaders worked with the youth campers during the morning in preparation for the afternoon performance, which took place during halftime of the women's game. The cheerleaders started with some games to get the ice broken between the campers and cheer squad. After that, the cheerleaders began teaching the dance routine to “Dynamite.” Then, the campers and cheer team worked together to learn the three crowd cheers of “Let's Go Cats,” “P.S.C.,” and “Go Big Blue.”
“This year's youth cheer camp was so much fun to be a part of,” noted Bobcat head cheer coach
Chelsea Allgood. “Watching the youth cheerleaders interact with the squad was adorable to say the least! I am very proud of the squad for the hard work they put forth in all their efforts with this camp and the many other fundraisers they have done,” concluded Allgood.
