(Peru, Neb.) – Twelve Peru State College (PSC) students are representing Bobcat athletics as cheerleaders this year.
Shelby Jones, a Johnson-Brock High School graduate, from
Johnson, is a third-year cheerleader. Jones is the captain of the cheerleading squad. Jones, a junior elementary education major, holds the position of back and side base when stunting with the Bobcat cheer squad.
Two squad members are in their second year of cheering for the Bobcats.
Nakita Baird, is a Johnson County Central graduate, from
Tecumseh. Baird, a sophomore psychology and criminal justice major, holds the position of flyer when stunting.
Ember Paulson, is a
Palmyra High School graduate. A junior psychology and criminal justice major, Paulson holds the position of side base when stunting. Last year, Paulson was named a Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete.
Nine cheerleaders are in their first year of cheering at Peru State.
Allyson Bennett is a
Nebraska City High School graduate. Bennett, a junior criminal justice administration major, holds the position of side base when stunting.
Megan Carroll is a
Dorchester High School graduate. A freshman elementary education major, Carroll holds the position of back base when stunting.
Sara Mencl, is a
Beatrice High School graduate. Mencl, a junior psychology major, holds the position of back and side base when stunting.
Jessica Merrill, is a Conestoga High School graduate, from
Murray. A freshman secondary language arts education major, Merrill holds the position of side base when stunting.
Kailey Peterson, is a
Bellevue West High School graduate. Peterson, a business marketing and sports management major, holds the position of flyer when stunting.
Felicia Schlicker, is a
Lincoln High School graduate. A freshman psychology major, Schlicker holds the position of side base when stunting.
Valerie Sievers, a Walnut Community High School graduate, from
Walnut, Iowa. Sievers, a sophomore elementary and early childhood education major, holds the position of side base when stunting.
Tiffany Streator, an Oak Grove High School graduate, from
Independence, Mo. A sophomore elementary education and special education major, Streator holds the position of flyer when stunting.
Michaela Wirtz, is a
Syracuse High School graduate. Wirtz, a freshman elementary education major, holds the position of back base when stunting with the Bobcat cheer squad.
The Bobcat cheerleaders performed at all of the home football games and now are cheering for the basketball teams. They utilize a combination of cheer, dance, and stunting to fire up the Bobcat fans.
Chelsea Allgood (Johnson) and Jessica Clifton
(Peru) are the cheerleading coaches. Both are former Bobcat cheerleaders and Auburn High School graduates. Allgood presently serves as the student activities coordinator at PSC while Clifton is completing her bachelor's degree in marketing.
